Apple TV+ · four seasons · developed by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly
Where was Ted Lasso filmed?
In April 2023 Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham and Brendan Hunt sat in the directors' box at Selhurst Park and watched Crystal Palace beat West Ham 4–3. They knew the ground. On the show it is Nelson Road, home of AFC Richmond, and when the cameras are on it the crowd is about a hundred extras, moved from seat to seat while the visual effects people fill in the rest. Afterwards Sudeikis said the effects team does a tremendous job, and that real people are better.

Where is Ted Lasso filmed? In England, mostly in London, and the Richmond of the title is the real one. The Crown & Anchor, the lane where Ted lives and the Green he crosses on his way to work all stand within a couple of hundred metres of each other in Richmond, on the south-west edge of the city. The football club is the part that lives somewhere else. Its stadium is Selhurst Park, 17 kilometres across London, and its training ground belongs to a non-league club in Hayes, out towards Heathrow, next door to the studios where the dressing room and the offices were built. Away games and cameos put other clubs' grounds on screen too, as far off as Bristol and Manchester. The third season took the team to Amsterdam for one episode, and the fourth, released between 5 August and 7 October 2026, began in Kansas City, the home town Ted shares with the man who plays him.
Is Ted Lasso filmed in Richmond?
Yes. The town on screen is Richmond upon Thames, about twenty minutes from central London by train, and the pub is a six-minute walk from the station. The pub, the lane and the Green touch each other: Paved Court comes out beside the pub, and the Green is across the road. Since the show first aired, tour companies have set up here: on foot, by bike, and by minibus out to the training ground and the studios in Hayes.
The Prince's Head, the Crown & Anchor
The Prince's Head on a wet night, 8 September 2022: the Fuller's lettering across the front, red parasols over the benches, and Paved Court opening on the right.
28 The Green, on the corner of Richmond Green. A working pub.
The Crown & Anchor, where Mae keeps the regulars in order on match days, is a Fuller's pub called the Prince's Head, and it has stood on the corner of the Green for about three hundred years. For the show it only changes its sign, because the room on screen is not this room. A full-size copy of the bar was built in a studio. A writer for Pellicle, a magazine about beer and pubs, came to see the real one and found the copy so close that walking in felt like walking onto the set: the spot where the three regulars stand swearing at the television, the bar, the table where Ted and Beard sit over pints and fish and chips.
Outside are the things the camera did not have to bring. Fairy lights are strung over the lane down the side, and a pair of red phone boxes stands by the pub. In the first season Ted sits down on a bench by those phone boxes in the rain, and Beard walks up with two pints. Fans now have their photographs taken on the bench outside the pub.
Paved Court, Ted's street
Paved Court the same night: wet flagstones, bunting and fairy lights over the lane, and the sign of the Prince's Head on the left.
The lane that comes out on the Green beside the Prince's Head. Public, lined with shops.
Ted lives in this lane, behind a door numbered 9½, and Coach Beard is often seen waiting outside it. Paved Court has no such number. It is narrow and stone-paved, and the shops along it are chocolatiers, boutiques, cafés, a deli and a milliner. The official Ted Lasso store is in the lane too, at number 4; it opened after the third season had finished.
When the crew came back to Richmond in September 2025, Ted's front door had not been put back up, though several paving stones in the lane had been lifted.
Richmond Green
Richmond Green in summer sun on 6 August 2016, with people sitting out on the grass inside a ring of trees.
Across the road from the Prince's Head. A public green.
Ted crosses the Green on the way to work and back, has many of his long talks with Beard on it, and it is here that Roy Kent ends up coaching a team of under-nine girls. It is twelve acres of grass ringed by trees, and in the Middle Ages it held jousts.
What stadium is Ted Lasso filmed in?
AFC Richmond's home ground, Nelson Road, is Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace's stadium in south London. Training is filmed at a much smaller ground in Hayes, in west London.
Selhurst Park, Nelson Road
The Holmesdale Road stand at Selhurst Park on 21 February 2015, with PALACE in blue seats on the red upper tier and EAGLES in red seats on the blue lower tier.
Whitehorse Lane, Selhurst, in Croydon. Crystal Palace's ground since 1924, open on match days.
The show borrowed more from Palace than the stadium. Richmond's home kit has the red, blue and yellow of Palace's 2018–19 strip, and both clubs have animal nicknames: Palace are the Eagles, Richmond the Greyhounds.
The match scenes mix the real ground with computer-made crowds, according to Paul Gerald, who runs the football travel company Groundhopper Guides. For one exterior in the second season the production dressed the roof of the Holmesdale Road End, at the corner of Park Road and Holmesdale Road, so that it read Nelson Road, for a shot that lasts a few seconds.
SKYex Community Stadium, the training ground
The SKYex Community Stadium in Hayes during a match on 10 November 2019: a single covered stand, full, with the sponsor's name at the end of the roof.
Beaconsfield Road, Hayes, about 8 km north-west of Richmond. Home of Hayes & Yeading United; matches are open to the public.
The training pitch is the home ground of Hayes & Yeading United, a non-league club, and it sits next door to West London Film Studios, the base for all three of the first seasons. The dressing room, Ted's office and a trophy room were sets on Stage 6 there. When the third season wrapped in 2022 they were taken down, packed and itemised, down to the notice boards and the sticky notes, and sent to the United States in case the show came back. Sudeikis gave the studio a signed photograph telling them forty grand in cash had been hidden somewhere on the premises.
The show did come back. The fourth season's London shoot began at the studios on 11 August 2025, with hundreds of crew cars parked at the football club, and within a few weeks the stadium had an AFC Richmond banner up.
The away grounds
Of the away grounds, West Ham's is the doubtful one. The last shot of the second season puts Nate at West Ham, and Gerald did not believe it was the real London Stadium: he doubted the show would be let onto that pitch when it had not been at Selhurst or Wembley, and the seats on screen say West Ham where, the last time he looked, the real ones did not. Before the third season aired, Luxury London took its promotional stills to mean the production may have filmed there.
Craven Cottage, playing Goodison Park
Craven Cottage from Stevenage Road on 8 September 2010: the red-brick front of the old stand and a row of turnstile doors under a sign for home supporters only.
Stevenage Road, Fulham, on the Thames, 6 km from Richmond. Fulham's ground.
In the first season Richmond play away at Everton, and Everton's Goodison Park in Liverpool is played by Craven Cottage, Fulham's ground on the river. Both have been football grounds since the 1890s. The episode uses shots of the outside of the ground, and Gerald spotted that the Fulham crest was still above the turnstiles. The cranes at one side of the shot were building Fulham's new Riverside Stand.
Wembley Stadium
Wembley Stadium from the air on 11 October 2022, the arch standing over the bowl of red seats.
Wembley, north-west London. The national stadium; stadium tours run.
Richmond's FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City, in the second season, is at Wembley. Going by the episode, Gerald is sure the touchline scene before kick-off was filmed at the real stadium, and he reckons a team called AFC Richmond was never let onto the pitch; the wide shot of the bowl is probably a drone, with computer fans added. The stadium tour stops at the same spot on the touchline, at the end of the players' tunnel.
Stamford Bridge and the Etihad
Stamford Bridge from the air on 9 September 2023, with CHELSEA spelled out in white seats among the blue and the railway running past on the right.
Stamford Bridge, Fulham Road, west London; the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, about 260 km north-west of London.
Roy Kent is a former Chelsea player in the story, and in the third season he goes back. A banner paid for by Chelsea supporters hangs in the East Stand at Stamford Bridge in memory of Ray Wilkins, and reads They don't make them like Ray anymore. In the episode it says Roy. Fans objected. In March 2023 Chelsea's owner, Todd Boehly, apologised to them and to the Wilkins family, said the club's deal with Apple had been made in early 2022, before his time, and added that the Chelsea players on screen were not Chelsea players. He did not say what the deal covered.
Manchester City put out film of Pep Guardiola recording his third-season cameo at the Etihad. Guardiola said his wife and daughter liked the show, the first season most of all, so when he was asked, he said why not.
Ashton Gate, Bristol
Ashton Gate on 19 October 2018, with grow lights out on the pitch: the Lansdown Stand on the left, the Atyeo Stand on the right.
Ashton Road, Bristol, 160 km west of Richmond. Home of Bristol City's men and women.
The fourth season gives AFC Richmond a women's team in the WSL 2, the league Bristol City Women really play in. In the ninth episode, Mae Rides the Bus, Richmond play at Ashton Gate: Ted, Beard and the assistant coach Alice Chilton take their places in the dugout, and Rebecca watches from the Lansdown Stand. Bristol City's crest had been spotted in the season's trailer in April.
A gala and a funeral
Away from football, the first season has Rebecca's charity gala and the second her father's funeral.
The Rivoli Ballroom
The Rivoli Ballroom by day in September 2026: red padded walls, chandeliers and tasselled lanterns under a curved gold ceiling, over an empty wooden floor.
350 Brockley Road, Crofton Park, south-east London. A dance hall, open for dances and events.
Rebecca's charity gala in the first season has two addresses, depending on whom you read. CNN puts it at Richmond Theatre, by Richmond Green. Transpontine, a blog about this corner of south-east London, spotted a scene of the gala here at the Rivoli, and Condé Nast Traveller also puts the ballroom in the first season; both were going by what is on screen. Perhaps the evening was shot in both. Which room the production used, nobody has published.
The Rivoli is a 1950s dance hall inside a building that opened in 1913, and one of the last of its kind left intact in London: red velvet walls, chandeliers, Chinese lanterns, a gold barrel-vaulted ceiling over a sprung maple floor.
St Andrew's, Kingsbury, and Strawberry Hill House
St Andrew's Church, Kingsbury, on 10 June 2017: grey stone and a tall spire, with scaffolding up one side of the tower.
St Andrew's Church, Kingsbury, north-west London; Strawberry Hill House, 268 Waldegrave Road, Twickenham, 3 km from Richmond. A parish church and a museum.
The funeral of Rebecca's father, in the second season, was filmed in two places, according to Luxury London's guide to the locations: the service and the outside shots at St Andrew's Church in Kingsbury, and one scene in Twickenham.
That scene, the mourners waiting in the vestry before the service, was shot at Strawberry Hill House, Horace Walpole's Gothic villa of the eighteenth century, now a museum. Visitors may take photographs inside the house, without flash.
Amsterdam, for one episode
The sixth episode of the third season, Sunflowers, takes the team to Amsterdam for a friendly against Ajax and a night off. Brendan Hunt, who wrote it, would only say beforehand that AFC Richmond were going through a bad patch. Part of the episode was made in the city and part of it was not. Rebecca's houseboat was a set in London. The jazz club was a bar set in an Amsterdam studio, because the real Cafe Alto was too small to film in. The American burger bar and the hotel lobby went up in a hangar near Heathrow, and Ted and Beard's hotel room is a room in a Hilton in London.
Johan Cruijff ArenA
The Johan Cruijff ArenA from the air on 7 June 2014, its roof partly open between white trusses.
Johan Cruijff Boulevard 1, Amsterdam. Ajax's stadium.
The episode opens with Ajax beating Richmond 5–0. According to iCulture, a Dutch site about Apple, the crew did film inside the arena, to make it all the more believable. Ajax marked the episode in Richmond: the week it came out, the club hung a four-metre-square billboard on the wall of the Prince's Head, pointing out that both clubs are called AFC and both cities share the dialling code 020.
The Van Gogh Museum and Prik
The Van Gogh Museum on 2 July 2018: a block of glass against a blue sky, with the museum's name on the stone wings either side.
The Van Gogh Museum, Paulus Potterstraat 7; Prik, Spuistraat 109, 2 km north in the centre.
The episode is named after the painting, and the crew filmed in the Van Gogh Museum, where Ted stops on his night out. The production designer, Paul Cripps, said the museum did not seem fazed by a drama shooting next to paintings worth millions; the filming it had seen before was mostly documentary.
Colin goes to Prik, a gay bar on Spuistraat, and that was shot in the real bar.
Season 4: Kansas City
The fourth season started filming in Kansas City in July 2025. Ted goes home to the Kansas City area at the end of the third season, and it is home for Sudeikis too, who grew up in Overland Park, on the Kansas side. The first episode was filmed in the city, and crews also worked at private houses in the suburb of Blue Springs. The stadium, the barbecue, the museum and the Plaza are all in Kansas City, Missouri, and the episode gets a joke out of it: Rebecca praises the food in Kansas over a plate of ribs, and Ted has to tell her they are in Missouri, with Kansas just across the street.
CPKC Stadium
CPKC Stadium during a women's match on 19 October 2024, seen from under the roof of one stand.
Berkley Riverfront, Kansas City, Missouri. Home of the Kansas City Current.
Ted and his visitors from London go to a Kansas City Current match, and Keeley and Rebecca leave it sure that Richmond needs a women's team. The Current play in the NWSL, and their ground is the first stadium built for a professional women's soccer team. The club's co-owner, Angie Long, said the producers first came to them in April 2025. One shoot at the stadium ran to eleven hours, Just Women's Sports reported, with the scripted scenes filmed alongside real match footage.
3205 Main Street, at Linwood Boulevard, Midtown. A working barbecue restaurant, one of five Gates around Kansas City.
When the visitors arrive, Ted takes them for barbecue at Gates, and the episode keeps the greeting every customer gets: Hi, may I help you? Crews took over this branch, on Main Street, in July 2025, and the cast shot a promotional video for Apple here; local television saw cast and crew inside it that month. Of the five Gates restaurants, this is the one they were seen in. Gates opened its first in 1946.
The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum
The entrance on East 18th Street in 2007, with painted figures of ballplayers and musicians over the canopy.
1616 East 18th Street, in the 18th and Vine district, next door to the American Jazz Museum.
Higgins sets off for the American Jazz Museum, finds it closed for a private party and goes next door instead, where he learns about Satchel Paige and stops for a moment on the Field of Legends. The episode spends a good while in here. The Negro National League was founded in 1920 at the Paseo YMCA, which still stands across the street.
Country Club Plaza
Country Club Plaza on 17 July 2008: a stone gatepost, a bronze boar, flower beds and Spanish-style towers behind.
Kansas City, Missouri. A shopping district of public streets; Charlie Hustle is at 4747 Broadway Boulevard.
Keeley and Rebecca walk the Plaza and find a boutique called Dazzle Me Moi, which does not exist. Streets here were closed on two days in July 2025 for filming, and Sudeikis was filmed outside the Charlie Hustle flagship store in a Current letterman jacket made by the local brand. The district opened in 1923, built to look like Seville, and it is known for its fountains; Keeley stops at one to make a wish. The visitors from London stay at the InterContinental, at the south end of the Plaza.
Back in Richmond, September 2025
After its weeks in the studios, the fourth season's London shoot went out on location for the first time in Richmond, at the start of September 2025. Local businesses had been warned two weeks ahead, and a letter from the location manager thanked the town for its welcome and called filming there a privilege. The crew worked in three places around the Green: the pub, the theatre and the house that plays Rebecca's home, a private one on the edge of the Green.
Richmond Theatre and Scott's
Richmond Theatre on 29 January 2024: red brick and terracotta, with a green dome on each of its two towers.
Richmond Theatre, on Little Green, 260 m from the Prince's Head; Scott's, on the riverside, 200 m the other way. A working theatre and a restaurant.
Richmond Theatre was closed for an evening, with security guards outside, while the crew filmed inside, and Warner Bros trucks were parked in the roads around Richmond. It is a Frank Matcham theatre of 1899, one of the oldest of his to survive, and it is the room CNN gives for Rebecca's charity gala in the first season. Teddington Town, a local news site, saw Hannah Waddingham filming at Scott's, a restaurant on the river, the same day.
Overnight the Prince's Head became the Crown & Anchor. Hundreds of fans stood behind barriers in light rain, and Tom Cotcher, back as Mr Mann, the angry fan from the earlier seasons, gave Ted the finger outside the door. At four in the afternoon it went back to being the Prince's Head.
